Genius!

Children are interesting creatures. This morning I commented on this photo of my cute little niece, Malia (my brother Caleb and his partner Chev's girl).

Seriously, she is so cute. PLUS, when Dad and Shazza were in town, I helped to pick out her outfit in this picture at the Las Vegas Markets (which means I owe Bethany a 'shout out' for getting us there...via cellphone instructions).

The other reason why I made the first statement was because of something that happened while I was at work. I was typing an email when I looked out the window to see this little kid jumping out the back of a station wagon in the carpark across the way.

However, this little boy was also hanging onto the top of the inside of the back/boot door (it's a hatch back); and, when he hit the ground, he let go of the door. That's when I realized that he was trying to close it (there are no adults around to help him). He had is bike on the road and jumped up a couple of times to reach the handle again. The boy then hopped back into the boot of the car, and did the same thing again--with success!

Now, I mention that because he can't have been older than 5 years old and I just thought that was pretty smart of him. I feel like I would've just given up and left the boot wide open while I raced around the carpark (aka parking lot). Good on him for being a responsible son/child--that gives me hope for the future.

Your post made my day. I love to watch kids make sense of their world...
