Stop for School Buses.

So, in New Zealand we don't have to stop on the opposite side of the road for School Buses if they have flashing lights and a stop sign. This is probably due to the fact that they do not have flashing lights or stop signs attached to them.

Also, I know I have an American license, but for the last four years, I've lived in a college town. Do you have any idea where this is heading?

That's right. I got a ticket. $688.50 later, I will never pass a school bus if it's lights are flashing like this:

Did you just pay it or attempt to explain to the judge how things are in your country? No one could fake that accent... And $688.50? I wonder how they came up with that exact amount. Tough, tough lesson, but it sounds like you learned it very well.

Really?!?! $688 bucks!! That is insane. I guess you could sell that iPad to pay the state!! P.S. other than the ticket, hope you are doing well in Oregon. Do they need ISys/IT interns?

Wow!! I actually have done that before. The bus driver laid on the horn as I passed it. It must have been my lucky day though. The cop gave me a little lecture and let me be on my way. It might have helped that I had two kids in the back seat and that I just kept saying sorry. Sorry to hear that Kiwi. Hope you are doing great.
