Sentimental Note: Friends.

I love my friends. They might not love me (all the time), but I love them.

Over the past few days, I've had calls, exchanged messages and wished Happy Birthday's to a few of you. I like you and I'm thankful for you putting up with me. Thank you for being examples of love and strength in my life. Thank you for the amazing memories and for helping me to create new ones.

Eventually, we grow up and get older. Things change and we change.

One day we want a dumpster truck cake and like to wear rainbow suspenders. The next, we are going to ChuckECheese as a young adult.

Really? Really. I did it.

At the end of the day, I'd like to think that we actually stay the same. The essence of who we are is the same as when we were younger. That same hesitant little boy with the cake is the same as the one with the large mouse. Maybe we're not as cute. Maybe we've had some 'life experiences.' We've definitely made some choices, but how much have we changed on the inside?

As a man, I still want to have friends come to my birthday party. I still want to play around and I still want to be loved. Heck, I still want to eat cake shaped like a dumpster truck (Who doesn't?).

I'm sure you have pictures or memories like this. Keep making them.

And to the friends that I've made. I still like you and I hope you still like me too.

Uhm ... you seem concerned that someone has stopped liking you. IF that concern is me ... stop fretting, young man. :) I realize I may not have responded to your last text or phone call. I am horrible at returning calls. But hey, none of us are perfect, right? P.s. I love young Adam pictures. Too stinkin' cute!!

Adam... we all love you! I know you will never forget my name =) just wanted to share the following quote that says it better than I can.

"In a world fraught with so much uncertainty and danger I find peace in the companionship, support and love of my family. Interestingly there are two types of family. There is the family you are born into and then the family that is formed through close ties and friendsips. Both play necessary roles in our lives...Family is there to support us in times of trouble and heartache. When life throws unimaginable tragedy at you, it is family that gathers around and buoys you up until you can walk on your own again...How do people survive without the peace, hope and love of the gospel? How do they survive it alone? How do they do it?...I had all these wonderful things and still struggled with fear, despair and unrelenting worry. However, underneath it all I knew I was loved and never alone. This is the value of family, both biological and that formed by friendship - it is of an eternal value that should never be taken for granted." --quoted from Candace Salima
