Mormon Notes: Family and Temples

I'm pretty sure most of you understand that family is central to the LDS faith. You needn't look very far to see how much the church really cares about the success of families. Regardless of what is said, you should know the importance of the family in the gospel of Jesus Christ.

What is interesting to some, is the link between core LDS doctrine and the temple. How does the temple fit in? Why is a temple needed or sacred? Why can't you tell me about what goes on inside the temple? Well, I can. Do you want to know why? Because temples are ultimately all about the success of families. That's the truth. That's it in a nutshell. Understanding the link between eternal (meaning forever) families and the temple should be at the very core of your study of the gospel.

Study will help you overcome a lot of the misconceptions about LDS Temples that exist in the world. People cannot understand why we would have such a place available. Here's my answer--it's all about families! We place a high amount of significance on temples because, inside temples, families can be sealed together forever. That is an amazing principle to teach. No one else in the world teaches that core doctrine so clearly. That's what happens inside an LDS temple--families, husbands, wives and children are sealed together past death.

I thought of this today because our two church speakers are an older married couple who spoke of the death of their son. This husband and wife spoke emotionally about how they found comfort in the fact that they are all sealed together as a family in the temple. That must be an amazing feeling to have.

Here's the Hamilton, New Zealand Temple:
