Well, I just got back from a late-night (10:30pm is late to me) run to Smith's and I had a neat little feel-good experience that I had to share before bed. I would honestly feel ungrateful if I didn't. It wasn't anything huge--no lives were saved or anything--it was pretty simple.
I was putting groceries into the boot of my car, when some kid leaving the carpark yelled out his window, "Hey Adam, I just wanted you to know that I thought you were a great president."
Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying this to relive my presidency. I'm not even trying to suggest that I was any better than past presidents, or the current BYUSA President, Elise May (who is doing a fantastic job). I would also be remiss if I didn't mention the officers that served with me last year--a lot of credit needs to be given to them too.
I mention this little "tender mercy" because it really made me feel good. I may never see this guy again, and I think that's the beauty of it. He just said it, as far as I can surmise, to help make my day better. We need more of that kind of service; the same kind that President Thomas S. Monson spoke of during this last LDS General Conference.
So, to my unknown friend I say, "Thanks mate."
